Monday: The Dow Jones Industrial average crosses 16,000 for the first time ever.

What’s in your safe?”

Tuesday 11/19/13 today is the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.

President Obama chooses not to participate. That’s nice.

US raw steel production rebounded 1.5 percent last week from the previous week as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate (ACUR) of 77.5 percent. In the corresponding week last year mills operated at an ACUR of 70.1 percent. Thus far this year mills have operated at an ACUR of 77.2 percent.

Above the Law

Trey Radel (R-Florida) busted for cocaine possession. Says he is an alcoholic, apologizes and is seeking help. Bob Ford, mayor of Toronto, Canada, busted for smoking crack, drunken behavior, admits to buying drugs on the street etc. He apologizes and is seeking help. Refuses to step down.

You know what my view is? These guys ALL think they are above the law. Why do they believe that? Because no one seems to care about their behavior, voters have short memories, or they believe they are helpless to stop this kind of behavior. Bullcrap.

These individuals should be fired-immediately-and banned from holding public office ever again, pensions and all accrued benefits revoked. Their apologies do not diminish the wrongs they have done to the people they have been hired to represent.

I agree that those with addiction need treatment and the proper care to free themselves of the disease. In my opinion, as I said before, these guys just think they are above the law. Drug and/or alcohol addiction is their excuse, not the reality. The reality is that POWER is their addiction. How do you get rid of the disease? Vote them out of office-forever.

Friday November 22, 1963 2:00PM EST:

I am sitting at my desk in 7th grade science class, there is about an hour of the school day remaining, it being Friday, there is the usual dance at the Church of the Savior down the street from Monticello Junior High School in Cleveland Heights, Ohio. Suddenly, the class is interrupted by the crackling sound of the PA (public announcement) system coming on with the news that the president of the United States had been assassinated in Dallas, Texas.

It was certainly a shock, but being 13 years old, the gravity of the situation did not sink in. I was intent on going to the school dance to be with my friends. I can clearly remember asking my dad for permission to go, he just looked at me aghast and said “the president has been shot, you’re not going anywhere.” Over the next several days we stayed glued to the television as did most, if not all, Americans, watching intently as things unfolded. I witnessed the murder of Oswald; it was like being in a bad dream.

One half a century has passed since that fateful day, 50 years! Seems like yesterday. Our country and the world have changed dramatically since then, much of the change for the better….and much of it not.

Remember:

Fast & Furious-providing weapons to criminals leading to a loss of American life. No one held accountable. The president was unaware.
The loss of 4 American lives at our embassy in Benghazi, Libya. No one held accountable. The president was unaware.
The IRS targeting conservative political groups for tax-exempt status. No one held accountable. The president was unaware.
The National Security Administration eavesdropping on the phone calls of American citizens. No one held accountable. The president was unaware.
The software program created for the Affordable Healthcare Act, at a cost of $650 million and 3 ½ years to perfect, has been unusable to the American people. No one held accountable. The president was unaware.
Spying on our Allies, specifically Angela Merkel of Germany. No one held accountable. The president was unaware. (although these things go on knowingly between countries all the time, the fact that our president denies knowledge of this is just another sign of his incompetence as the leader of the most powerful country on the planet)

Have a great weekend and….

Hug your children and grandchildren, tell them you love them.
Buy American made products whenever you can.
Hire a Veteran: they are patriots, honest, hard working, disciplined, loyal and …. They need and deserve our support.

God Bless America
