Existing Home Sales Rose 20.7% in June

US existing home sales rose 20.7 percent in June as low mortgage rates and re-openings around the US helped push sales up from May.

CFNAI Increased in June

Led by improvements in production and employment related indicators, the Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) increased to +4.11 in June from +3.50 in May. Three of the four broad categories of indicators used to construct the index made positive contributions in June. The index’s three-month moving average (CFNAI-MA3), moved up to -3.49 in June from -6.36 in May.

What do the numbers mean? A zero value for the monthly index has been associated with the national economy expanding at its historical trend (average) rate of growth; negative values with below-average growth (in standard deviation units); and positive values with above-average growth. Periods of economic expansion have historically been associated with values of the CFNAI-MA3 above -0.70 and the CFNAI Diffusion Index above -0.35.

Conversely, periods of economic contraction have historically been associated with values of the CFNAI-MA3 below -0.70 and the CFNAI Diffusion Index below -0.35. An increasing likelihood of a period of sustained increasing inflation has historically been associated with values of the CFNAI-MA3 above +0.70 more than two years into an economic expansion. Similarly, a substantial likelihood of a period of sustained increasing inflation has historically been associated with values of the CFNAI-MA3 above +1.00 more than two years into an economic expansion.

US Raw Steel Production at ACUR 58.3%

US raw steel production the week ending 7/18/20 was 1,306,000 net tons at an ACUR of 58.3 percent. I believe production dropped to around 51% of capacity early in the pandemic as business was shut down. The current production rate is up 1.3 percent from the week of 7/11/20. It is moving in the right direction.

Conference Board LEI Increased in May

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) increased 2.8 percent in May following a 6.1 percent April decline.

In May, the US LEI showed a partial recovery from its sharp decline over the previous three months as economic activity begins began to pick up again.”

Riots, violent protests, looting and other chaos continue in Democrat run cities across the United States, in some cases for 2 months now. Why? Are these incidents being promoted and driven by leftist radicals? Communists? Marxists? These are not home-grown protests, or because of George Floyd. I don’t give a shit if you like President Trump or not. The fact is, everyone who is against our current president, has been influenced negatively by 3 ½ years of a constant media barrage of negativity against the man they presume to hate. But why? Do they not believe or see the good things this administration has done for the people of the United States? The list of positives is very long and just the beginning of what he wants to do. The so-called Democrats have descended in the hell of socialist meandering that would lead this country down a path for which she was not intended to travel.

Freedom, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, the freedom to choose, to have the opportunity to work for and achieve one’s dreams…that is America. It is NOT waiting for an assistance check from Uncle Sam (though this country is the most benevolent in the world, need a hand-up, America responds. Need a hand-out Democrats respond). The so-called Democrats and their ilk will destroy our country if they gain power in November.

Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….
