Trending: Strong Labor Market Demand, Elevated Small Business Confidence

Happens every month around this time: “this week’s economic release calendar was barren compared to last week’s jam-packed schedule, however, the data released largely confirmed the trends of strong labor market demand, elevated small business confidence behind regulation rollbacks, and credit growth continuing its steady growth as spending builds momentum.”

US Raw Steel Production Last Week Retreated

US raw steel production last week retreated 1.4 percent as mills operated at an ACUR of 73.6 percent. In the corresponding week last year mills operated at an ACUR of 68.7%. Thus far this year mills have produced prox 76,000,000 tons compared to the prox 74,000,000 tons produced in the like period last year.

The number of drill rigs running in the US slid by 11 last week (led by Oklahoma, down by 8). Meanwhile, Canadian drilling inched up by 1 rig compared with the previous week.

Tragedy Strikes Again

Another tragedy in the United States as a sicko walked into a Baptist church in Sutherland Springs, TX, opening fire and murdering 26, injuring another 20. Naturally, the anti-gun nuts are crawling out of the woodwork. What they fail to mention is that an armed American citizen put 2 bullets into this scumbag, stopping the murder or injury of countless others. The coward committed suicide after a car chase.

Most rational people know that any person hell bent on committing an act of violence will execute his plan one way or another, take away the gun, he or she will use a bomb, a truck, fire…you name it.

Tax Code Reform

Does anyone understand what our idiot legislators are trying to pull off with tax “cuts” and tax code reform? There are so many stories floating around and none make sense. Want to shrink the tax brackets from 7 to 4? That’s fine, do that and then leave it alone. Don’t sneak in other rates, don’t phase cuts in/out over time and don’t make carve outs or exceptions (or whatever you want to call them) in order to placate one political party or another.

Everyone is worried about giving the people back $1.5 trillion of their money over ten years. This they argue about. Obama doubling our debt from $10 trillion to $20 trillion almost immediately caused consternation to no one. Why is that? Our politicians are all full of crap; all self-serving, not country serving. And the president, in his zeal to get a legislative victory, is not standing up for what he campaigned on.

All of the obstruction and resistance is taking its toll…to the detriment of the American people. The idea is to lower the tax rates, which are a burden on ALL of the American people. You don’t raise some and lower others.

This bullshit rant about giveaways to the rich is a leftist talking point. The wealthy already pay most of the taxes, they also hire and employ the most people, take their earnings away and they will choose not to hire, not to create jobs, not to donate to charities or other philanthropic causes of their choosing. It is common sense folks. Yes, reduce the corporate and pass through tax rates and eliminate the carve outs and loopholes. Keep it simple stupid (KISS).

I make a good living, I am fortunate to be here, in this country, OUR country, and I am willing, as I am sure most Americans are, to give back (mortgage interest deduction, state tax deduction) in order to get our house in order. Let’s STOP the excessive government spending and corruption, the endless entitlements (not all, but many can and should, go), those things that are detrimental to the good of the country. Politicians aren’t supposed to be buying votes with OUR money (entitlements).

Saturday November 11 is Veterans Day…take the time to thank a Veteran for his or her service to our great country and for the fact that you live as a free person because of their sacrifices made throughout our history.

I will track these campaign promises and will check them off as each is accomplished adding those I have missed as they become apparent. This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….

TEDDY ROOSEVELT ON IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA…1907

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed,  or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag…We have room for but one language here and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
