The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI)
The CFNAI edged up to -0.15 in July from -0.23 in June. The index’s 3 month moving average, CFNAI-MA3, increased to -0.15 in July from -0.24 in June marking its fifth consecutive reading below zero. July’s CFNAI-MA3 suggests that growth in national economic activity was below its historical trend and further suggests subdued inflationary pressure from economic activity over the coming year.
Although still reflecting economic growth, we are languishing in a rut. A healthy business environment corresponds to consistent readings above the -0- trend line and the higher above zero, the better things are. You can look at a chart going back to 1999 at www.chicagofed.org
US raw steel production last week rose 0.9 percent from the previous week as mills operated at an average capability utilization rate (ACUR) of 78.4 percent up from an ACUR of 76.3 percent in the corresponding week last year. Thus far this year mills have operated at an ACUR of 77.1 percent, down from the same period last year when mills operated at an ACUR of 77.8 percent. ~American Iron & Steel Institute

Yesterday video was shown of dead children and adults, people suffering just to breathe, in Syria. Reports put deaths at 1,000. Remember when the president said “the use of chemical weapons would change my equation…..”, or “make no mistake, if you cross that red line, there will be severe consequences….” What and where are these consequences? How does this United States government respond to genocide? The murder of innocents? Where is the president? Just back from his Martha’s Vineyard vacation….. after he just got back from his African vacation. I know, all presidents take vacations, and they should, it is a high stress job….if you are actually working. This president is accountable for nothing; he has been on the campaign trail for five and one half years. His healthcare legislation, the defining legislation of his presidency, is a laughable joke. The cost of this new tax, in loss of jobs and personal and business income to the American people will be horrendous. Fast and Furious, the IRS scandal, the National Security Administration scandal, the Benghazi scandal. Everything rolls off him like water off a duck’s back.
Remember, “….if I had a son he would look like Trayvon”, or “30 years ago, I could have been Trayvon”.
Three black punks beat up a white boy in Florida because he ratted on them for attempting to sell him drugs. Broke his arm, bloodied him up pretty good. No response from the president. Jesse Jackson? Al Sharpton? Nowhere to be found.
This week a 22 year old college student, attending school here from Australia, was murdered in cold blood, shot in the back by two black and one white punk. No response from the president. Jesse Jackson? Al Sharpton? Nowhere to be found. Though I do applaud Jesse Jackson for making a bold statement denouncing these types of crimes, whether they are black on black, white on black, black on white, white on white (name your “color”).
Chicago….
It is a murder free for all in that city and many other cities across our great country. Where is the leadership? Where is the outrage from our leaders? Where is Jesse? Where is Al?
This trial is going on now: two young black boys walk up to a mother walking her baby in a stroller (she happens to be Caucasian), shoot her child dead, right between the eyes. No comment from the president. No comment from Jesse, no comment from Al.
It starts with family
These incidents are the result of many things but my view is that the disintegration of the family unit is the root cause. Who is leading our children? Who is teaching what is right and what is wrong? Who is providing direction? Who is teaching morals, respect? Who is helping to create the desire to succeed, the desire to be responsible for their actions, to be responsible for their own well being? Who is giving love and attention? The benefits of a strong family unit are indisputable in history. The long term results of the disintegration of the family unit is being proven to be indisputable every day as we watch our children spiral down to government dependence, crime and decadence, not striving to achieve but accepting loose morals, apathy, disrespect. These children mentioned above, what are their prospects for a full and rich life in America? All these children who are covered in tattoos, full of body piercings, taking all manner of drugs and alcohol. Would you hire them? Would you want them to represent your company? The prospects for them are horrific. I fear for my children and grandchildren, what quality of life can they expect in this America? We must re-emphasize the need for a strong family unit. It begins at home; mine, yours and everyone else’s.
Nidal Hassan found guilty of multiple counts of murder and attempted murder in the Fort Hood shooting. Fry the bastard. Then take back what’s left of the $300,000.00 we the infidel American taxpayers have paid him while we fed, cared for and housed him. Useless maggot.
Spokane, Washington yesterday
Two punks beat to death a World War II veteran, a survivor of the battle for Okinawa. Why? This American hero was waiting in his car to escort a friend home. He had to be in his 80’s. Big tough guys. Oh, the perpetrators are black youths; the veteran was a white male though I am quite sure this was not a racial incident. I would suspect they are from broken homes, but that is an assumption on my part. Any guesses on who will not make any strong statements against such atrocities?
Well, it’s late Friday afternoon, I wish you all a relaxing weekend, this kind of news wears me out. Hug your children and grandchildren, tell them how much you love them.
