News Headlines

We woke Monday hearing the 20 hostages still held by Hamas, have been released. This is wonderful news for everyone. There remains twenty-eight bodies of deceased hostages which need to be recovered and returned to their families.

President Trump is being applauded around the world for engineering this peace as he flew to Israel to be welcomed by Netanyahu and a host of other world leader from France, Italy, Canada, India, Egypt, Indonesia and others. This is quite a historic day, and hopefully, a world-changing event, for the better.

Not yet confirmed, but I just read that Canada is removing all retaliatory tariffs on the USA. I am sure the president will grant them the same courtesy in return…if it is fact.

Friday 10/17/25 Day 17 of the government shutdown. Both sides believe they have the upper hand, I am not so sure. The Democrats are hell-bent on spending $1.5 trillion on what I consider to be mostly nonsense, i.e. money for healthcare for illegals, money for left leaning radio, NPR, and a continuation of the expiring Obamacare subsidies, and a myriad of other favors for their favorites. Republicans in the The House have already passed a clean CR (continuing resolution) to fund the government and give the two sides time to negotiate a deal by late November. The CR neither adds nor subtracts any funding. We do not need to spend this money, their demands are ridiculous, in my view.

TEDDY ROOSEVELT ON IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA…1907

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag…We have room for but one language here and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
