Consumer Confidence Index deteriorated in June
The Consumer Confidence Index deteriorated by 5.4 points in June, falling to 93.0 from 98.4 in May.
US raw steel production up from previous week
In the week ending June 21, 2025, US raw steel production was 1,787,000 net tons at an ACUR of 79.6 percent, up 4.9 percent from one-year ago, up 0.2 percent from the previous week ending June, 14, 2025. Adjusted YTD production through June 21, 20225 was 41,642,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.2 percent.
Manufacturing activity remained soft in June
The Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond released its Fifth District Survey of Manufacturing Activity results and reports manufacturing activity remained soft in June the composite manufacturing index increased to -7 in June from -9 in May, remaining in negative territory. Shipments and new orders rose to -3 and – 12 respectively.
US drill rigs running down from previous week
There were 554 drill rigs running in the US the week of 6/20/25, down one rig from the previous week, down thirty-four rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers added one rig, to 139 which is down 27 rigs from one year ago.
CFNAI increased in May
The Chicago Fed National Activity Index (CFNAI) increased to -0.28 in May from -0.36 in April. Two of the four broad categories of indicators used to construct the index increased from April, but three categories made negative contributions in May. The index’s three-month moving average (CFNAI-MA3) decreased to -0.16 in May from +0.06 in April.
Real gross domestic product (GDP) decreased at an annual rate of 0.5 percent in the first quarter of 2025, according to the third and final estimate released by the Bureau of Labor Economic Analysis

Over the past weekend the United States executed a precision air attack on three Iranian nuclear development sites. As far as we know, all three were utterly and completely destroyed. Over the past week or so the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) destroyed the Iranian air force, many of its ballistic missiles and launch sites. It is time for the Iranian people to rid themselves of the autocratic regime which controls their lives. This is the 21st century, damn it. Why do people put up with this crap? From what I am hearing, the Iranian people are quite intelligent and highly westernized. Join freedom, live in prosperity. You have an opportunity to rid yourselves of the yoke of oppression. Unbelievable: New York Democrats have shunned Andrew Cuomo as candidate for mayor and instead have chosen a radical Muslim, Zohran Mamdani, calls himself a Democratic Socialist, he defends terrorists, hates Israel and is an extreme leftist. You think Kathy Hochul is bad? Wait until they step into this pile of shit. I hear there is a conservative gaining some traction in this race. Frankly, that is just what the once great city of New York needs; common sense leadership. They will NOT get it from the left.

The US military executed a precision bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities. 1 dozen 30,000# bunker buster bombs were dropped, the facilities are now under a mountain of rock and debris, yet the leftists are questioning the success.
