Adjusted YTD raw steel production up from a year ago
Adjusted YTD steel production up through October 4, 2025 which was 68,498,000 net tons at an ACUR of 77.1 percent, and up 2.3 percent from one year ago. In the week ending October 4, 2025, US raw steel production was 1,749,000 net tons at an ACUR of 77.2 percent, down 1.2 percent from the previous week ending September 27, 2025.
US drill rigs running down from previous week
There were 547 drill rigs running in the US last week, down two rigs from the previous week, down thirty-nine rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers added three rigs, to 190, up three rigs from the previous week, down twenty-six rigs from one year ago.

Monday was day six of the dreaded government shutdown. Who cares? The leftists want $1.5 trillion in additional spending, supposedly to continue the Obamacare subsidies. I said last week and will reiterate today that the ACA was a scam. These clowns want socialized medical care, personally, I enjoy choosing my own doctors, getting appointments in a reasonable amount of time. Take a look at Canada, see how long it takes to schedule a surgery, or a dentist appointment, or a check-up-with a doctor you may or may not know. It is ridiculous. This country was built on capitalism, not socialism. Do we want all the benefits of a capitalist society thrown out the window because a large swath of people have been made to believe the government should take care of all their needs? It is stinking thinking.
The so-called “Democrats” are a dead party, they have fallen so far off the once Democratic mountain that I do not think they can recover. Any moderates who still exist are fearful of speaking out, afraid of severe retribution by the extreme leftists now controlling their party. Everyone sees it, no one is willing to speak out against it.
A nameless, leftist judge has put an injunction on President Trump’s plan to send the National Guard to Portland, Or. This is nuts, the people in Portland are rioting around an Immigration and Customs Enforcement building. The jerk mayor of Chicago has signed orders to prevent the National Guard and ICE from pursuing law and order in this great city. This is nothing less than insurrection.
The war in Gaza continues, the deadline for release of the hostages was 6 pm eastern time, Sunday. That was yesterday…what have we heard? Crickets…

Wednesday the White House announced the Hamas hostages, 20 living, 28 deceased, will be returned this coming Monday, along with the release of some 1950 jailed Palestinians and Hamas fighters. This is step 1, but it is an encouraging development. Keep in mind, this is a group of terrorists who hate the Jews and America. They have NOT been trustworthy to date. Don’t hold your breath.

Friday marks the tenth day of the government shutdown. The Democrats are insisting on $1.5 trillion of additional spending while the Republicans have presented a “clean” CR wherein the government stays open and gives the House time to negotiate. Of course, the Democrats blame the Republicans for the shutdown, but that is a blatant lie.
