Nonfarm payrolls declined 92,000 in February
Nonfarm payrolls declined 92,000 in February after solid growth in January. Private sector payrolls fells by 86,000, the largest decline in private sector hiring since December 2020. Some of the weakness can be attributed to poor weather and labor strikes as well as other mitigating factors. There are always revisions. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.4%
US raw steel production down from previous week
In the week ending February 28, 2026, US raw steel production was 1, 811,00 net tons at an ACUR of 78.3 percent, down 0.3 percent from the previous week ending February 21, 2026. Adjusted YTD production through February 28, 2026 was 15,048,000 net tons at an ACUR of 77.2 percent.
US drill rigs running down from previous week
Week of Feb 27 there were 550 drill rigs running in the US down one rig from the previous week, down forty-three rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers shut ten rigs, to 214, down thirty-four rigs from one year ago.

In the early morning hours of Saturday
February 28, 2026 the United States and Israeli military forces launched an attack, Epic Fury, on Iran during which the ayatollah and reportedly 40 other leaders were killed in the initial bombing strikes. Good riddance, I am sure the Iranian people are dancing in the streets. President Trump cautioned the Iranian people to shelter in place but that once the bombing was over, they should come out and reclaim their freedom, their government and their country. Peace is within their grasp. The bombing will continue as we seek to destroy their ballistic missile and other military capabilities. There are still many loyal to the regime, I don’t think they will have much time to decide where their allegiance lies; with peace, or oppression.
Monday. One of the five wounded servicemen has died. Of course, the Democrats are up in arms about this “illegal” attack. They are all full of shit. Had he gone to Congress, the plans would have been leaked. Everyone knows that. They can blame themselves. The president has just removed a mass murderer from our midst. He meant no one any good, only evil. Death was his companion. His people suffered, they still suffer. We can only hope the young masses, the freedom loving Iranians, prevail in their quest to retake their country. I do not understand those who mourn his death, are they that religiously brainwashed that they cannot discern good from evil? “Death to America!” “Death to Israel!” Why? We are the great satan? America? America is not perfect, but we strive to be better. In the history of man, there has not been a country which has done more to help others in need, to innovate and create things to improve life and living, medicines, medical procedures, art, science, writing, history. You name it, Americans have contributed greatly to the worthy cause.
As of Tuesday morning, we have lost the lives of six American servicemen in the course of operation Epic Fury in Iran.
