Firms expect growth over the next six months

Firms expect growth over the next six months, and expectations were somewhat more widespread. The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia released its Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey results and reports manufacturing activity in the region weakened in August, according to firms responding to the survey. The current general activity index fell to a near-zero reading, the new orders index dipped into negative territory, and the shipments index also declined, but remained positive.

US raw steel production down from previous week

In the week ending August 16, 2025, US raw steel production was 1,774,000 net tons at an ACUR of 78.3 percent, that is down 1.4 percent from the previous week ending August 9, 2025.
Adjusted YTD production through August 16, 2025 was 55, 920,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.6 percent.

US drill rigs running unchanged from previous week

There were 539 drill rigs running in the US last week, no change from the previous week ending August 8, 2025. Down 47 rigs from August 16, 2024. Canadian drillers added three rigs, to 183, down 34 rigs from August 16, 2024.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for the US inched down in July 2025

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for the US inched down by 0.1% in July 2025, to 98.7 (2016=100), after declining by 0.3 percent in June. The LEI fell by 2.7% over the six months between January and July 2025, a faster rate of decline than its -1.0% contraction over the previous six month period (July 2024 to January 2025).

Trump met with Putin in Alaska last Friday and not much progress to end the war came from that meeting. Trump was hopeful of getting at least a cease fire agreement. Putin is a butcher, he likes killing people. Monday Russia killed ten innocent citizens with a drone attack in Ukraine. Pretty much telling the world to go fuck itself. I would suggest Trump give Putin a call and tell him further sanctions will be imposed and we will crush your economy, which is already teetering on disaster.

Monday, many members of NATO, Zelensky and Trump met at the White House, the meeting didn’t accomplish much either. They all praised Trump as a peacemaker, and he is. The man hates the loss of life from this and any senseless war.

The New York Appeals Court (essentially their Supreme Court) has thrown out the ridiculous $500 million fine on Donald Trump. I told you early on that all these lawsuits were politically motivated bullshit. The so called “democrats” still crap their pants at hearing his name. what a bunch of losers. Any real democrats who read the Weekly View; it is well past time that you stand up for what is right and true. These leftists are, or have, ruined your party.

It appears the leftists have nominated Gavin Newsom as their 2028 presidential candidate. That is brilliant. He has ruined California and in fact they do want his failed policies instituted across our country. Do you? I do not. He is a waste of skin.

Since the President placed the National Guard in Washington DC, along with its police force, a mere 10 or 11 days ago, there has not been a homicide in 10 days. Carjackings are down 83%, robberies are down 46%, car thefts are down 21 %, and overall violent crime is down 22%. Once they have things under control and the scum is off the streets, the National Guard can leave and the DC police can assume the duties of enforcing law & order to our capital city.
