Inflation held steady
Inflation held steady at 2.7 percent in July from a year earlier, said the Labor Dept on Tuesday. A solid blow to leftist propaganda. Stocks rallied on the news, the Dow rising nearly 484 points, more than 1%. The S&P and Nasdaq both closed at new record highs. Tariffs have not caused a spike in prices, in most cases. A disappointment to Democrats who are still talking about Biden’s egg prices…
The economy is clearly soft, in my view, people are waiting for the Federal Reserve Bank to cut interest rates, hopefully a substantial cut will open the floodgates to growth.
The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index picked up in July on brighter expectations for the economy.
US raw steel production up from previous week
In the week ending August 9, 2025, US raw steel production was 1,800,000 net tons at an ACUR of 79.5 percent, up4.3 percent from one year ago, up 1.0 percent from one week prior.
Adjusted YTD production through August 9, 2025 was 54,146,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.5 percent.
US drill rigs running down from previous week
There were 539 drill rigs running in the US last week, down one rig from the previous week, down forty-nine rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers added three rigs, to 180, down 37 rigs from one year ago.
Business activity grew modestly in New York State in August
The Federal Reserve Bank of New York released its Empire State Manufacturing Survey results and reports business activity grew modestly in New York State in August. The headline general business conditions index rose six points, to 11.9, it highest reading in several months. New orders and shipments increased. Delivery times lengthened significantly, and supply availability worsened. Inventories declined after growing last month.

In the week ending August 2, 2025, US raw steel production was 1,782,000 net tons at an ACUR of 78.7 percent, up 0.3 percent from the previous week, up 4.5 percent from the same period one year ago. Adjusted YTD production through August 2, 2025 was 52,346,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.4 percent.
US drill rigs running down from previous week
There were 540 drill rigs running in the US last week, down two rigs from the previous week, and down 46 rigs from one year ago. Meanwhile, Canada shuttered five rigs, to 177, which is down forty-two rigs from one year ago.

On another low note, the so called “Democrats” are raising a stink about redistricting which is about to happen in Texas. This is politics, totally permissible under the election laws of the United States. Why is it ok when they do it, but not when Republicans do it? They are two-faced losers, and all their drama will lead to-NOTHING. We had democrat legislators fleeing Texas this week, shunning their elected responsibilities. Who pays for their little vacation? Why, YOU, the taxpayer, of course.

The president is deploying the National Guard and possibly some US military to Washington, DC (can you believe it?), to restore law and order. The capital City of the United States is one of the most, if not, the most, dangerous cities in our country. What a shame. Every Democrat-controlled city is in deplorable shape; rampant crime, slums, homelessness. Name the scourge, they create it.
Governor Gavin Newsom of California has called on the president to “stand down” on the gerrymandering effort going on in Texas. I don’t know what he is bloviating about, Democrats have already gerrymandered all of their blue states. Many of their districts have ZERO: Republican representation despite having substantial Republican citizens in the district. “RULES FOR THEE, BUT NOT FOR ME”….such bullshit with these people.
Even as the president seeks to rid Washington DC of crime, homelessness, graffiti and squalor, among other things, the Democrats call him a dictator and worse. Does this mean the want crime, graffiti, homelessness and squalor to continue in our capital city? Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) exists in a big way in Democratic circles. How delusional can they become?
Chuck Schumer says he feels safe walking around DC, the Capitol Building and monuments. Of course, he does not mention that he and all congressional members have an armed security detail following them. Lies, Lies, Lies…
