Iron Ore Prices Soared 67% This Year

“Iron ore prices soared 67% this year, a resurgence driven by falling supplies that has led to challenging times for steel mills that use the material. As steel’s main ingredient, iron ore is one of the world’s most traded commodities and can influence prices for materials used in everything from cars to skyscrapers…many steelmakers world-wide are reporting their margins are being squeezed by climbing ore costs, although the impact varies depending on how much iron or steel scrap they use. US Steel said last month it was struggling with rising material costs in Europe as it idled one furnace there and two in the USA. ~ The Wall Street Journal

(I am sure this is one factor in the decline in average capability utilization rates which has dropped from around 83% to 79% as reported above).

Dow Industrials Record High

On Thursday the Dow Industrials closed above 27,000 for the first time while the S&P closed just short of the 3,000 threshold.

US Labor Market Remains Strong

According to the US Labor Department, US employers added 224,000 jobs in June, easing fears of a hiring slowdown and showing a strong labor market could propel the domestic economy facing threats from abroad. the jobless rate kicked up to 3.7%

Small Business Optimism Index Fell in June

The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell 1.7 points in June. While overall confidence remains at a fairly high level, business owners expressed concern about slowing sales, trade tensions and rising costs. Wells Fargo

US Drill Rigs Running Down Last Week

There were 963 drill rigs running in the US last week, down 4 from the previous update. Meanwhile Canadian drilling also dropped by four rigs to 120.

US Raw Steel Production at ACUR 79.4%

In the week ending July 6, US raw steel production was 1,847,000 tons at an ACUR of 79.4 percent. Thus far this year mills have produced prox 50,458,000 tons compared to the prox 47,918,000 tons produced in the like period last year.

51% of Americans Support Mass Deportation

The latest Harvard/Harris poll finds that 51% of American voters say they support the mass deportation of the 11 to 22 million illegal aliens living in the US should Congress fail to reach a deal that closes the loopholes in the immigration asylum system.

I am surprised it is only 51%…it should be 100%. The fact that the taxpayer is paying to house, clothe, feed and provide healthcare is a shame on the Congress. These idiots want to give them the vote and are basically telling the rest of us to go to hell. We have veterans and homeless citizens not receiving the care these lawbreakers are. Enough of this resistance and obstruction. What are people thinking?

“The Life of Washington”

This week, the leftists in San Francisco, Ca. have a decided that mural of George Washington’s life, painted in the 1930’s is racist and hurtful; thus, they want it painted over. The way of life, in all periods of time, is just the way of life at that point in time. I am not going to get into a pissing contest about slavery, it was accepted at the time and has since obviously been determined to be wrong for America-a very long time ago.

We cannot remake our history, nor should we try to hide from it. Over the past 2 ½ centuries, the United States has done more good than harm to and for all people here at home. We have had a black president, we have black mayors and governors, congress men and women, doctors, architects, actors. You name it, any field is filled with a diversity of American citizens. So, liberals, socialists, Democrats (in name only), stop your race baiting bullshit, lying to the people to foment chaos for your own selfish political reasons. It is wrong and come November 2020, the leftists and socialists and dino’s (see above, in name only) will find out once again, that the American people are much smarter than they think.
