The U.S. Economy Created 213,000 Jobs in June

The U.S. economy created 213,000 jobs in June. The unemployment rate ticked up to 4.0% from 3.8%, an 18-year low, but steady hiring and an increased number of job seekers suggest the strong labor market drew Americans in from the sidelines. US Labor Dept.

Institute for Supply Management (ISM) June 2018 Report on Business Reports Economic Activity Expanded in June

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) released its June 2018 Report on Business and reports economic activity in the manufacturing sector expanded in June and the overall economy expanded for the 110th consecutive month, according to the nation’s supply executives responding to the survey.

The report was issued 7/2 by Tim R. Fiore, CPSM, CPM, Chair of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee:

The June PMI registered 60.2 percent, an increase of 1.5 percentage points from the May reading of 58.7 percent.

Comments from the panel reflect continued expanding business strength. Demand remains strong, with the New Orders Index at 60 percent or above for the 14th straight month. The Backlog of Orders Index continued to expand. Consumption (production and employment) continues to expand despite labor, skill and material shortages.”

Factory orders increased a better than expected 0.4 percent in May as non-durables climbed 1.1 percent and core capex orders were revised upward. Stronger growth in durables also helped to propel the upside surprise. Wells Fargo Economics Group

July 4, 2018

Wednesday July 4, 2018 marks the 242nd anniversary of the world’s first experiment in freedom, for men and women to have a protected guarantee “of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness…”

FREEDOM. For men to have free choice to chase their dreams, to build a better life for their families and themselves. As a country, we have sacrificed much in blood and treasure to preserve these freedoms, for ourselves as Americans and for all those in the world who seek freedom from oppression, the freedom to choose, to be bound only by one’s own desire to succeed. God Bless the United States of America. Are we perfect? Certainly not, but we are the best there is on planet earth. I hope you all had a great holiday and celebration of what and who we are.

Scott Pruitt Resigns

On Thursday Scott Pruitt resigned as Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency amid ethics probes and improper spending. You may recall, if you follow this column, that I ranted against this guy when it was first revealed he was chartering private jets and unwisely spending taxpayer money. As I tweeted to President Trump, Mr. Pruitt is an employee of the American people and that only the President himself can travel as he wishes. No government employee is entitled to spend taxpayer money in such a way. Unfortunately, Mr. Pruitt was doing a commendable job at the EPA and will be missed in that regard.

I will track these campaign promises and will check them off as each is accomplished adding those I have missed as they become apparent. This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….

TEDDY ROOSEVELT ON IMMIGRANTS IN AMERICA…1907

In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag…We have room for but one language here and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
