US Raw Steel Production Retreated Last Week

US raw steel production retreated 0.7% last week as mills operated at an ACUR of 74.2%. In the corresponding week last year, mills operated at an ACUR of 74.9%. Thus far this year mills have produced prox 42,000,000 tons compared to the prox 41,344,000 tons produced in the like period last year.

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for May 2018 Increased

The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for May 2018 increased 0.2 percent following a 0.4 percent increase in April and a 0.4 percent increase in March.

While May’s increase in the US LEI was slower than in recent months, the improvements in a majority of its components offset the declines in leading indicators of labor markets and residential construction,” said Ataman Ozyildirim, Director of Business Cycles and Growth Research at the Conference Board.

Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey Suggests Continued Expansion

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia released its Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey suggests continued expansion of the region’s manufacturing sector. All the broad indicators remained positive but did decrease in June. This mirrors the LEI report above.

In my view, these readings may be a result of the typical seasonal summer slowdown in the manufacturing sector.

Border Security

Here we go again with the whining leftists and the illegal immigration situation. Why is it that people cannot seem to comprehend the word “illegal?” It is against the law to come into this country illegally. Period. The president is enforcing laws which exist on the books currently (though apparently the separation rule is a recent addition). Period. You don’t like the law? Change it.

The president offered a deal for DACA a year ago which included more people than the left was demanding. The whining leftists refused to endorse his proposal. The reality is, the left does not care about illegals, per se. They do however, very much care about the votes they garner by giving away money to those who would become beholden to the party and they do care about doing ANYTHING to discredit the president…All these videos of children in cages?

The law to separate was passed in 1997 by both Democrats and Republicans, now everyone is blaming Trump who had nothing to do with it. It is all a bunch of bullshit, and all these whining swamp creatures, on both sides of the aisle, need to be tossed from office…the sooner the better.

Mid-week the president signed an executive order to cease the separation of children from their parents. This is very ugly. There were two immigration proposals made this week which have been tabled. The swampers on the left and right do not want the president to find a viable solution. I am still of the view that we must have secure borders. People should not be allowed to come into this country illegally, take up residence, collect various amounts of taxpayer money, take a percentage of American jobs.

I understand the need for lower wage earners to be allowed to come and do the work many Americans will not because the labor wages are so low, but there must be a better way to allow work visas for people to come and work and then go home at the end of the growing season, which seems to be where the biggest need for such laborers is.

I will track these campaign promises and will check them off as each is accomplished adding those I have missed as they become apparent. This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term, but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….
