Unemployment Rate at 3.8%
The unemployment rate at 3.8% is a fresh low for the US economy, which added 678,000 jobs in February, continuing at an impressive pace. The labor force participation rate ticked higher, but the jobs market continues to tighten with the unemployment rate falling.
Chicago Business Barometer Weakened for the First Time Since November 2021
The Chicago Business Barometer fell 8.9 points in February, weakening for the first time since November 2021. New orders declined with nearly 25% of respondents reporting declines. Production also fell in February, for the second consecutive month.
Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey Reports Activity Continued to Increase
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas released its Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey and reports factory activity continued to increase but at a slightly slower pace in February.
US Raw Steel Production Down from Previous Week
In the week ending February 26, 2022, US raw steel production was 1,755,000 net tons at an ACUR of79.7 percent, down 0.5 percent from the previous week.
Russia Invades Ukraine
It has been a week since Russia invaded Ukraine. The people of Ukraine are putting forth a valiant effort. Let’s be clear, they do NOT want to be part of Russia, they like their sovereignty, they like being free people. There is a lot going on outside of Ukraine in support of their efforts. Weapons are being shipped in, sanctions have been levied on Russia and some large companies have ceased doing business with Putin. I hope it is enough to prevail over the communist regime.
State of the Union Address
Fast forward to Tuesday night where the president gave his first State of the Union message. My first impression is that it was a glorified stump speech. The state of or union is deplorable, beset by high inflation, a wide-open southern border allowing millions to cross illegally into our country and hop on the teat of the USA, funded by the American taxpayer. We have rampant crime everywhere in our country, immoral subjects being taught to our children in public schools. Our energy industry has been mothballed, our military is “woke” by design and the wishes of our high command. He did not address any of the issues which worry or are of concern to Americans.
“Make it in America”
That being said, Biden is now FOR funding the police. Instead of sending more jobs overseas, he is trumpeting “make it in America.” It is laughable the way these people lie and lie and think the people believe their horseshit (unfortunately, some do). Suddenly, Sleepy Joe is speaking like a conservative. Don’t buy any of it, it is all bullshit…but this is what happens in an election year. The crooks come out of the woodwork, tell you everything you want to hear, then disappear again. It really is time for TERM LIMITS.
Oil Hits $110 Per Barrel
Oil hit a price of $110.00 per barrel on Thursday and is headed higher. Bend over…but let’s not drill for oil here at home. Let’s keep the pipelines closed, stop drilling and exploration in Alaska and elsewhere. That is the progressive mission-to destroy us from within-and without. The democrats don’t give a crap about the cost of gas. In their minds, the higher the cost goes, the more citizens will abandon gas for electricity. Not this guy. Democrats do not have the welfare of American citizens front and center.
American Independence from Russia Energy Act
On Thursday we learned that the House Democrats rejected the “American Independence from Russia Energy Act”, which was meant to authorize the Keystone XL pipeline, boost domestic oil and gas production and prevent Biden’s executive agencies from halting energy leasing on federal land and water, among other provisions.
