Unfilled orders increased and new orders and shipments continued to expand strongly in May. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York released its Empire State Manufacturing Survey for May 2021 and reports business activity continued to grow at a solid pace in New York State, according to firms responding to the survey.
Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) Increased in April
The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for the US increased 1.6 percent in April following a 1.3 percent March increase and a 0.1 percent decline in February.
With April’s large monthly gain to start the second quarter, the US LEI has now recovered fully from its covid contraction, surpassing the index’s previous peak, reached at the very onset of the global pandemic in January 2020.
US Raw Steel Production Up from Previous Week
In the week ending May 15, 2021 US raw steel production was 1,799,000 net tons at an ACUR of 79.2 percent, up 1.4 percent from the previous weeks production.
US Drill Rigs Running Up 137 from One Year Ago
There were 455 drill rigs running in the US last week, up 2 rigs from the previous week, up 137 rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers dropped one rig to 58 which is 37 more rigs than one year ago.
Oregon Counties Want to Become Part of Idaho
Several counties in Oregon on May 18, voted to consider joining the state of Idaho, which is part of a long-shot movement to break away from the state that has long been dominated by Democrat politicians in Portland.
The grassroots group Move Oregon’s Border for a Greater Idaho is aiming to have eastern counties-which are mostly rural-join Idaho because they believe they would be better off with Idaho’s more conservative political leadership.

Biden has granted permission for the Russian government to proceed with its Nord Stream pipeline from Russia to Germany. Why are pipelines being built around the world while the fool in the oval office shuts down pipelines throughout the USA? All to reverse what Trump accomplished. Now we have gas lines, rising fuel prices and our energy independence is threatened. Nice move, asshole.
Chicago Mayor Interview “Diversity”
Lori Lightfoot, the incompetent mayor of Chicago, announced this week that she will entertain interviews from black reporters only. What? Racist? Yes. Unfortunately, I hear no condemnation from Democrats or the useless Republicans. I would not expect it from the liberal media. Just imagine if a Caucasian politician tried that…they would be hung out to dry but in Marxist America, it is condoned.
Middle East Conflict
After Hamas began firing what came to be 4,000 rockets from Gaza into Israel over the past week and a half-with an overwhelming military response by the Israeli military, which many do not know, gave warnings to civilians to evacuate prior to defensive attacks, the American left is blaming the violence on Israel. What else would you expect from the Squad partners and their leftist comrades? Now the leftists are demanding the American taxpayer to pay for the repair of the destruction in Gaza. Communist insanity.
