The Index Well Above Previous Peak, Reached 111.2

The Index well above its previous peak of 102.4, reached in March 2006, is now at 111.2. The Conference Board Leading Economic Index (LEI) for August 2018, released 9/20, expects the economy will continue to expand through 2018.

The leading indicators are consistent with a solid growth scenario in the 2nd half of 2018 and at this stage of the maturing business cycle, it doesn’t get much better than this,” said Ataman Ozyildirim, Director of Business Cycles and Growth Research at the Conference Board. “The US LEI’s growth trend has moderated since the start of the year. Industrial companies that are more sensitive to the business cycle should be on the lookout for a possible moderation of economic growth in 2019. The strengths among the LEI’s components are very widespread, further supporting an outlook of above 3.0 percent growth for the remainder of 2018.”

US Raw Steel Production Down Last Week

US raw steel production was down 0.9% last week as mills operated at an ACUR of 79.4%. In the corresponding week last year mills operated at an ACUR of 73.4%. Thus far this year mills have produced prox 67,000,000 tons compared to the prox 64,000,000 tons produced in the like period last year.

Empire State Manufacturing Survey for September Reports Continued Business Activity Growth

The Federal Reserve Bank of New York released its Empire State Manufacturing Survey for September and reports business activity continued to grow at a solid clip in New York State. The headline general business conditions index showed ongoing strength. New orders and shipments grew moderately. Delivery times continued to lengthen, and inventories moved higher.

September 2018 Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey Reports Continued Regional Manufacturing Activity Growth

The Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia released its September 2018 Manufacturing Business Outlook Survey and reports regional manufacturing activity continued to grow. The survey’s broad indicators for general activity, new orders, shipments and employment remained positive and increased from their August readings.

Brett Kavanaugh Accuser Hearing

Brett Kavanaugh: The Democrats have once again made complete fools of themselves as they continue dragging this good man and his family through the mud to meet their own diabolical political ends. Mr. Kavanaugh has in fact, been investigated by the FBI no less than six times in his career as he climbed the ladder of success to his nomination to the Supreme Court.

Where was this woman over the past 36 years with her accusations? If she was so adversely affected, where has she been all these years? She has had over three decades to destroy this man’s career. She (as of Tuesday) has said she will not accept the invitation by the Senate to tell her story. Oddly, her attorney says that she, as the accuser, does not have to prove her accusations but rather, the good judge must prove his innocence. There are no eyewitnesses other than his friend, Mark Judge who denies anything occurred, while also admitting he was blind drunk at the time.

Mrs. Ford, for her part, couldn’t tell you where or when this occurred as she was purportedly drunk as well. I doubt she even knows who the perpetrator was, if there was one at all. Read the stories and you will easily see that this is a huge attempt by the left to foil the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.

Extremists on the left will believe anything they are told by their “leaders,” moderates and those with a bit of common sense will see this ruse and it may cost the Democrats votes in November. Feinstein has had the “letter” since July and chose to hold it until the eleventh hour to throw a monkey wrench into the proceedings. Despicable behavior to say the least. This whole thing is such a blatantly overt political ploy that I am surprised the Justice Department isn’t taking the Democrat party to task. Talk about a swamp…

This is quite an agenda and will be difficult to achieve all in one term, but I believe the American people are behind him and know these things need to be done. Now, if he can get our legislators to support him instead of fighting him….
