Inflation Slowed in August to 2.5%

Inflation slowed in August, according to the Consumer Price Index (CPI),  a three year low and opens the door for the Fed to reduce the cost of money at its meeting next week.

Small Business Optimism Index Slid in August

The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) Small Business Optimism Index slid 2.5 points in August to 91.2, erasing the gains from July’s jump. On the bright side, concerns over inflation have trekked down with the share of businesses raising prices at its lowest point since January 2021.

US Raw Steel Production

In the week ending September 7, 2024, US raw steel production was 1,772,000 net tons at an ACUR of 79.8 percent, up 0.7 percent from the previous week ending August 31, 2024. Adjusted year-to-date production through September 7 was 61,110,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.7 percent, down 1.8 percent during the same period last year.

US Drill Rigs Running Down from Previous Count

There were 582 drill rigs running in the US last week, down one rig from the previous count, down fifty rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers stayed the same at 220 rigs, up 38 rigs from one year ago.

What is it that people are thinking about Harris and Walz? You have a puppet in Harris, installed by the Democrat party, not a primary vote of the people. She does not take interviews, cannot answer a question of any substance, has done nothing of value for the country in her entire career. Introduced no bills while a senator yet managed to ruin San Francisco. She now proclaims her values have not changed yet she now, seemingly, opposes everything she has stood for in the past. If you believe that ruse, you are more stupid than one would think.

Her running mate, Walz, is a committed progressive, a liar, a valor thief and a pretty wishy-washy guy. Is this really the team we want leading America in such dangerous times? At any time?

On Tuesday evening, she will debate Donald Trump. He needs to keep his cool and let her put her foot in her mouth. She is illiterate to foreign and domestic policy, has zero idea of economics, what of the issues Americans speak of? The border? Inflation? Job growth? Education? Economic growth? Our military? Public safety? National security? The national debt? This is all backwards, she has no clue whatsoever. The Democrats in general have no clue. Everything they want is bad for America and Americans.

Wednesday was the twenty-third anniversary of the attack on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon and a foiled attempt in Shalersville, PA where in passengers on the plane, likely headed to Washington DC, subdued the hijackers, the airplane crashed in a field. All were lost, the passengers who gave their lives are heroes, as were the 2900 lives lost in the tower collapse, the first responders. ALL American heroes.

I watched the Trump-Harris debate last night and was totally unimpressed. Mr. Trump, despite being advised by many, to keep her on defense by highlighting her progressive career moves, did not. Instead, she had him on defense the entire debate. She told numerous outright lies. Trump likes to embellish numbers, which all politicians do. I do not recall him issuing any blatant lies about Harris. The moderators were liberals and displayed their bias unabashedly. Trump was fact checked often, Harris was not fact checked at all, that was Trump’s job and he did not take advantage of the dish he was served. I would say he lost the debate.
