Consumer Price Index Rose in December
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for all urban consumers rose 0.3 percent in December, on a seasonally adjusted basis. Over the last twelve months, the all-items index has increased 3.4 percent.
I remind you; the Fed target is 2% inflation.
US Raw Steel Production Up from Previous Week
In the week ending January 6, 2024, US raw steel production was 1,707,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.9 percent, up 1.6 percent from the previous week ending December 30, 2023.
US Drill Rigs Running Down from Previous Week
There were 621 drill rigs running in the US last week, down one rig from the previous week, down 151 rigs from one year ago. Canadian drillers opened thirty-nine rigs, to 125, up thirty-nine rigs from the previous week, down sixty-four rigs from one year ago.

Ok, we are into the election year political cycle, and I expect a bumpy ride for everyone.
The Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, is in the hospital. In fact, he was in the ICU for a time. He did not tell his boss, the President of the United States. This happened last week. He is still in the hospital, and no one knows why he was admitted. Isn’t this a little strange? Especially with the world on fire as it is.
Biden started his campaign, not by addressing issues important to the American people, but by calling his likely opponent a loser. Isn’t that wonderful? All they tell is lies upon lies, accusing conservatives of doing exactly what they are doing. It is Deja Vu. We saw this in 2016 and in 2020. Get used to it. Just don’t fall for their bull crap.
Michele Obama “I am terrified of what might happen…” yes, they are all terrified. Terrified that their reign of leftist, socialist bullshit will end with the election of Donald Trump. Of course, conservatives need to control both the House and the Senate for the right things to happen.
Biden is planning to pursue an aggressive and expansive agenda in a second term, including proposals for cheaper childcare and prescription drugs, tuition-free community college, an “assault” weapons ban and higher taxes on rich Americans. This is all well and good, but it ALL has to be paid for, and who pays for it? The American people. The government produces nothing without our tax dollars, and they seem to have no aversion to spending more than they take in, hence our $34 trillion debt. How will that ever be paid back? One trillion is one thousand billion, one billion is one thousand million. Can anyone wrap their head around the enormity of such numbers?
Fanni Willis, the prosecutor in the case against Trump in Georgia, hired her lover as special prosecutor in the case. He has been paid some $600,000 in legal fees, despite having little experience. He has never tried a felony case. She and her lover are now on some worldwide vacation.
