Q2 GDP Economy Expanded
Q2 GDP economy expanded. The second of three estimates of Q2 GDP were released and showed the economy expanded at a 2.1 percent annualized pace. While still strong (?), this is a slightly slower pace of growth than first estimated.
Growth in Texas Factory Activity Abated in August
The Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas released its Texas Manufacturing Outlook Survey results for August 2023 and reports that growth in Texas factory activity abated in August, according to executives responding to the survey. The production index, a key measure of state manufacturing conditions, ticked down to 1.2, a reading suggestive of very little change in output.
Other measures of manufacturing activity signaled slower growth or declines during the month. The new orders index was negative for a third month in a row, suggesting a continued decrease in demand.
Perceptions of broader business conditions continued to worsen in August. The general business activity index remained negative but shot up 10 points to -12.9.
US Raw Steel Production Down from Previous Week
In the week ending August 26, 2023, US raw steel production was 1,733,000 net tons at an ACUR of 76.2 percent, down 1.3 percent from the previous week ending August 19, 2023.
US Drill Rigs Running Down from Previous Week
There were 632 drill rigs running in the US last week, down 10 rigs from the previous week, which is down 133 rigs from one year ago. Meanwhile, Canadian drillers added one rigg to 190, which is down eleven rigs from one year ago.
Consumer Confidence Index Declined in August
The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index declined in August. The Present Situation Index, based on consumers’ assessment of current business and labor market conditions, fell to 144.8 from 153.0.

What is wrong with the left in our country that they are so hell-bent on murdering babies through abortion? How can it be such a dividing issue? Because the left makes it so. There are certain times when abortion becomes the right path to take, but overall, we should be celebrating new life, not killing it.
What is wrong with the left in our country that they promote men competing in women’s sports, that men can use the “ladies” room to relieve themselves? It is sick and perverse.
What is wrong with the left in our country that they promote the teaching of sexual perversion to our children, promote the addition of sexually explicit books to elementary school libraries and the children who use them. It is sick and perverse.
What is wrong with the left in our country that they are good with promotion of having “drag” shows and “drag queens” perform in front of our children? It is sick and perverse.
What is wrong with the left in our country that they are perfectly willing to allow illegal immigrants to cross our borders, by the millions, to use taxpayer dollars to house, feed, educate, give medical care, and on and on, to these illegals. We have immigration laws in this country which pre-empt all of this. Unfortunately, we have an administration whose aim is to destroy the fabric of our country.
What is wrong with the left in our country that they promote criminality, making it nearly legal to rob, steal, burn, rape and murder with little to no accountability?
On March 3, 1865, Abraham Lincoln and Congress passed “An Act to establish a Bureau for the Relief of Freedmen and Refugees” to provide food, shelter, clothing, medical services, and land (40 acres, a mule, and tools) to displaced Southerners, including newly freed African Americans.” I believe these are aptly named “reparations,” but no one seems to know about this. Now you know. It is called the “Freedmen’s Bureau Acts of 1865 and 1866.” If you Google this, you can read all about it.
