US Drops Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Imports
US drops tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, according to a US Department of Commerce announcement on October 31. It will drop tariffs on steel and aluminum imported from the E.U. and replace them with a quota system to allow for some duty-free tax imports. In exchange, the E.U. dropped its own retaliatory tariffs on imported US goods like bourbon and Harley Davidson motorcycles.
The announcement effectively undoes Trump-era tariffs on imported metals from Europe.
Economic Activity in Manufacturing Grew in October
The Institute for Supply Management released its October 2021 Report on Business, writing that economic activity in the manufacturing sector grew in October, with the overall economy achieving a 17th consecutive month of growth, according to the nation’s supply executives responding to the survey.
The report was issued by Timothy R. Fiore, CPSM, CPM., Chair of the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.
US Raw Steel Production Down from Previous Week
In the week ending 10/30/21, US raw steel production was 1,860,000 net tons at an ACUR of 84.3 percent, down 0.5 percent from the previous week.
Glenn Youngkin/Winsome Sears Win Virginia
The big news this week was the embarrassing defeat the Democrats took at the voting booth this week. Glen Youngkin beat the pants off Terry McAuliffe-good riddance. Youngkin ran on education, security, lower taxes, you know, things Americans are concerned about. McAuliffe had to play the Trump card as he has done nothing worth a vote for another term. Additionally, and more importantly, Virginia elected Winsome Sears as Virginia Lieutenant Governor, she is the FIRST black woman elected to statewide office in Virginia. Can you believe it? A black woman elected by the people of Virginia. With all the rampant racism around? Go figure. I am tired of hearing about racism. It doesn’t exist to the degree the Marxists wish you to believe. Unfortunately, the woke crowd does believe it…but when asked for an example, they have no response-other than to call the questioner-you guessed it-a racist!
Yes, the idiots in Washington are actually considering paying illegal immigrants separated from family members at the border. Some scumbag American attorney surely cooked this up. So, there will be litigation in the courts attempting to gloss over the illegality of their presence in our country in order to buy more votes for the Democratic party. What? You don’t think it is driven by Democrats? Just follow the money
